KUWAIT, Jan 19 -- 1964 -- Sajjad Haidar presents credentials to Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah as Pakistan's first ambassador to Kuwait.
1965 -- An Amiri decree was issued forming the Kuwait Shipping Company with a capital of KD-two-million.
1987 -- Premeditated fires broke out at oil sites in Al-Ahmadi. The perpetrators were apprehended on January 31 of the same year. Large caches of arms and highly-explosive ordinances were found in possession of the 11 perpetrators.
1987 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues a decree approving Kuwait's joining of the agreement for establishing the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.
1991 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah deliveres a speech on the occasion of launching the war to liberate the State of Kuwait from occupation forces of the late Iraqi ruler, Saddam Hussein.
1992 -- His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah inaugurates the International Islamic Forum that urged Iraq to implement all UN Security Council resolutions, including release of Kuwait's POWs.
1999 -- Kuwait's observer status membership was approved at the International Conference on Disarmament, held in Geneva.
2002 -- Abdulaziz Hussein Library was inaugurated, offering books both in Arabic and other languages, references, periodicals and manuscripts.
2003 -- Kuwait Oil Company yields 54 square kilometers of land to help resolve the housing problem, where land would be used to construct 46,000 housing units.
2009 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah opens the First Arab Economic, Social, and Development Summit, announcing the donation of USD 500 million for Arab development projects, in addition to USD 34 million for United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine.
2010 -- Salah Al-Marzouq dies at age 62. He was a well-known business figure.
2015 -- Kuwait Credit Bank launches an online loans service.
2015 -- Kuwait signs agreement with Microsoft to develop education in the country. (end) hb
