KUWAIT, April 18 (KUNA) --

1968 -- Shuaiba Refinery, the first owned by Kuwait National Petroleum Company, opened with a production capacity of 95,000 barrels per day (bpd).
2000 -- Kuwait parliament approved a bill that would commit the government to provide social allowance for citizens working in private sector.
2001 -- Former parliament member Abdulrazzaq Al-Khaled passed away at age of 71. He was elected in the first National Assembly in 1963, was a member of board of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the first chief of Al-Taleea magazine.
2004 -- Al-Fatat sport club won the Gulf Table Tennis Championship that was held in Bahrain.
2005 -- Kuwait parliament approved a bill amending housing care law to grant Kuwaiti woman mother married to a non-Kuwaiti the right to apply for housing care. The National Assembly also approved the private sector's contributions to building state-owned lots for housing care.
2014 -- UN refugees agency (UNHCR) awarded Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq, Amiri Diwan Advisor, and president of the Islamic International Charitable Organization and UN Secretary General's humanitarian envoy, its golden medal in appreciation of his support of philanthropic activities.
2018 -- Kuwait SC won VIVA Football League after collecting 49 points.
