KUWAIT, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- 1913 -- First Arab charity society was set up in Kuwait, aimed at helping the poor and orphans.
1964 -- The first Chinese ambassador delivered his credentials to Kuwait Ruler Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1978 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah ordered appointment of Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah as the Crown Prince.
1981 -- Ibin Sina Hospital was inaugurated for specialized surgeries.
1986 -- The new Central Library was opened in Al-Mubarakiah.
1993 -- The National Zoo was re-opened after being destroyed by the Iraqi occupation forces.
2003 -- Vanguards of the "Peninsula Shield" Force started arriving in Kuwait to defend the country against the defunct Iraqi regime.
