KUWAIT, July 16 (KUNA) -- 1933 -- The first airmail trip from Kuwait to Calcutta, India, was made.
1973 -- An Amiri Decree was issued to establish the National Real Estate Company with a capital of KD five million.
1974 -- Law issued over the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Medal and Kuwait's Shield. The first article in the law stipulates that a medal be issued under the name of Mubarak Al-Kabeer and that a Shield of Eight Ranks was also to be issued. Both honors were to only be given by an Amiri decree, the law stated.
1974 -- Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah approves establishing the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and on Kuwait's contribution to the Arab fund to support African countries.
1982 -- Famous folklore singer, Mahmoud Al-Kuwaiti, passes away at the age of 78. He started singing at the age of 20 and was famous for the style of his songs. He composed and sang more than 200 songs.
1984 -- An Amiri Decree was issued to establish the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations.
2003 -- Late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issues Decree stipulating in its first article that the premier is to be addressed as 'His Highness'. (end) hb
