1982 -- Amiri decree 5/1982 is issued for the establishment of Zakat (Alms) House as a public institution with an independent budget.
2004 -- Kuwait's permanent delegate to the UN in New York Nabila Al-Mullah submits credentials to then UN Secretary General Kofi Anan, becoming first Arab-Muslim representative at the international organization.
2011 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah orders the payment of a KD 1,000 allowance in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Kuwait's independence, 20th liberation day, and the fifth anniversary of his ascension to power. Holders of food ration cards were also given a 14-months' worth of free food supplies in celebrations of the happy occasions.
2012 -- Geneva-based Euro-Arab Environment Organization selects Sheikh Amthal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chairperson of the Kuwait Voluntary Work Center, as one of four Arab women for its Arab woman environment leaders' award for the year 2011.
2017 -- Kuwait Sports Club wins His Highness the Crown Prince football cup for the sixth time in its history after beating Qadsia SC. (end) gta
