KUWAIT, April 15 (KUNA) --

1976 -- Kuwait national team won the 4th Gulf Football Cup, which was held in Qatar, after beating Iraq 4-2.

1980 -- Farwaniya Hospital opened to provide health care for more than 10 residential areas. The government hospital was expanded in 2009 to reach a capacity of 920 beds.

1993 -- Kuwait University granted US President George Bush an honorary Doctorate degree in appreciation of his unwavering support of State of Kuwait during Iraq's invasion and occupation.

2000 -- Kuwait Ministry of Health opened Kuwait National Bank's (NBK) Children Hospital. The KD-three-million hospital consisted of departments for treatment of cancer, blood-related diseases and neurology.

2013 -- Kuwait's first Conference and Exhibition for Medical Emergency and Crises Management began activities with participation of all crises management authorities in the nation.

2014 -- Ministry of Defense's (MoD) former Undersecretary Sheikh Sabah Nasser Saud Al-Sabah passed away at age of 64. He was the MoD's Undersecretary between 1998 and 2008, and appointed an Assistant Undersecretary for Military Facilities Engineering in 1988.

2017 -- Kuwait national team won the 16th Gulf Athletics Championship.

2020 -- Former Minister Jassem Al-Marzouq passed away at age of 85. The deceased was a minister of justice in 1971 and a Minister of Education between 1971 and 1981, as well as a Minister of Commerce and Industry in 1981-85. (end) ah.bs
