KUWAIT, March 4 (KUNA) -- 1952 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, made an official five-day visit to Iraq in response to an invitation from King Faisal II.
1961 -- The government of Kuwait sent a memo to the Arab League Secretariat pronouncing its readiness to contribute to the establishment of a world trade center in New York.
1965 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued law 6/1965 pertaining to the industrial law.
1965 -- First Indian ambassador to Kuwait presented credentials to the Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1976 -- Abdulhameed Abdulaziz Al-Sanae, a prominent figure in Kuwait's literary history, passed away.
1981 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued a decree forming the 11th cabinet in Kuwait's history. It comprises 15 ministers and is headed by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1991 -- His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah returned home after the liberation of Kuwait and is greeted by thousands of people who had lived under the seven-month Iraqi occupation.
1994 -- The UN Security Council unanimously approved a plan by Secretary General Boutrous Ghali to compensate Iraqi farmers 71.5 million Iraqi dinars for relinquishing property on the Kuwaiti side of the border. A sum of 56 million dinars was paid in compensation for 95 farms and 15.5 million dinars for 206 homes. Kuwait agrees with Ghali's proposals.
1997 -- The National Security Council was established by an Amiri decree and is chaired by the country's prime minister and groups eight members. The council is tasked with shielding national security and drafting strategic policies. Later, on April 15, 1998, an Amiri decree is issued appointing Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid as President of the National Security Bureau.
2000 -- Al-Arabi Sports Club won the 7th Crown Prince Football Cup after defeating Kazema.
2003 -- Sulaibikhat handball team won the Arab Cup after beating Morocco's Al-Rabita in Casablanca. (end) gta
