1999 -- Theatrical actor Mohammad Al-Surei' died at the age of 59.

2005 -- Prime minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sponsored the golden jubilee for kindergartens.

2008 -- The telecommunication company VIVA began operating.
2008 -- The oil ministry inaugurated three underground reservoirs for storing liquefied natural gas in the Industrial Al-Shuaiba region. The reservoirs' capacity is 7,200 tons, sufficient for local consumption for 20-30 days.
