1903 -- Britain's Viceroy in India, Lord George Curzon, arrived in the State of Kuwait, where he was received by Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah on board Lord Curzon's ship.
1915 -- The seventh ruler of Kuwait, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, known as Mubarak Al-Kabeer, passed away at the age of 73 after ruling the country for 19 years.
1973 -- Livestock Transport and Trading Company was established with KD eight million capital. The company was listed on the Kuwait stock exchange in 1984.
1976 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree establishing the Fund for Future Generations with 10 percent of state revenue to be deposited in the fund as of the fiscal year 1976-77. The sums were to be invested by the Kuwait Investment Authority, and 50 percent of the state's reserves were to be deposited into fund accounts immediately as the law's entry into effect.
1990 -- The UN Security Council approved Resolution 677 condemning Iraq's attempts to change Kuwait's demographic status and destroy population records, and called on the UN Secretary General to keep Kuwaiti population records to make sure no Iraqis would claim themselves as legal residents after the country liberation.
1997 -- The Ministry of Interior changed the name of the Police Academy to the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences in recognition of the services of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem.
2005 -- The State of Kuwait hosted the 13th Union of Arab Chemists meetings, becaming the first Gulf state to host since the union's establishment 30 years ago.
2009 -- Kuwaiti para-athlete Hamed Wabdan won the table tennis gold medal in an international para-athletics competition held in India.
2010 -- The Dar Salwa Tanker arrived at Ahmadi Port. The high-tech tanker, which can transport 318,000 tons of oil, was among the first batch of tankers aimed at upgrading the fleet of the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC).
2011 -- An Amiri decree was issued accepting the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, assigning him as caretaker.
2012 -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon named Kuwait's Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq as his Special Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs in Kuwait.
2017 -- The Executive Council of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) unanimously approved Kuwait's status as observer in the council.
2018 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurated Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital. The hospital consists of five main towers built on an area of 220,000 square meters. The full facility covers 725,000 square meters and has 1,168 beds.
2023 -- The National Assembly, or parliament, witnessed an interpellation against Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Sabah by MP Muhalhal Al-Mudhaf.
2023 -- The National Assembly approved, in a closed-door session, the appointment of Essam Al-Roumi as President of the State Audit Bureau.
2023 -- The National Assembly approved a law for the Kuwait Chamber for Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
2023 -- The National Assembly amended the industrial law on assigning representatives at the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) from the National Fund Overseeing Smmall-to-Medium Size Enterprises, the apparatus to protect competitiveness, and the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA).
2024 -- The National Assembly approved amendments to some articles of the social securities law concerning the replacement of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) seat at the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) with the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM).
2024 -- The Health Ministry opened the first sleep-therapy clinic in Kuwait.
2024 -- Amiri Decree No. 114 of 2024 was signed regarding the Foreigners' Residency Law, including a number of regulations under article 36 across seven chapters. The previous Foreignersآ’ Residency Law, Amiri Decree No. 17 of 1959, had been in effect for over six decades, during which numerous developments and shortcomings emerged. (end) gta
