KUWAIT, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- 1962 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued decree 6/1962 dividing Kuwait into three governorates: Kuwait, Hawally, and Ahmadi.
1966 -- Kuwait Marine Sports Club was declared.
1973 -- A historic football game was held at Shuwaikh High School between Brazil's Santos Club and Kuwait's Qadsia Club. The game was attended by some 30,000 people, and ended with a tie 1-1, goal scorers Brazil's Pele and Kuwait's Jassem Yaqoub.
1975 -- Abdullatif Al-Kuwaiti, a leading Kuwaiti singer, passed away at the age of 74.
1995 -- Boubyan Petrochemicals Company established to produce, sell, and import all types of petrochemicals products.
2002 -- Kuwaiti doctor, Jamal Al-Mejran, succeeded in restoring the vision of a 70-year-old man after transplanting an artificial cornea, in the first such surgery in the Middle East.
2013 -- Kuwait and South Sudan signed an agreement to establish diplomatic ties.
2014 -- Kuwait won the Arab youth fencing competition via snatching three gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.
2017 -- The Arab Union for Writers and Intellectuals honored Kuwaiti Poet Dr. Khalifa Al-Wagayan with the Quds (Jerusalem) award. (end) gta
