1949 -- Head of the Maaref (Knowledge) Department Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah opened Kuwait religious institute, located near the Gold Market east of Abdullah Al-Salem Street.
1953 -- Iraq's King Faisal II paid his first visit to State of Kuwait at the invitation of Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. King Faisal II was accompanied by the guardian of the throne Prince Abdulilah.
1972 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree establishing Kuwait Municipality to be affiliated with Council of Ministers.
1988 -- A group of terrorist hijacked a Kuwait Airways plane five hours after taking off from Bangkok, Thailand, heading back to Kuwait. The Boeing-747, named Jabriya, carried 113 people including 15 crewmembers.
1999 -- Cultural icon Abdulrazzaq Al-Basir died at the age of 74. The deceased was secretary of the Library of Department of print and publication in 1956, then Secretary of Ministry of Information Library until 1991, and was elected in board of Kuwait Writers' Association between 1967 and 1980.
2000 -- A Kuwaiti medical team succeeded in transplanting a bone marrow for a 48-year-old Saudi patient suffering from lymphatic disease in his abdomen.
2001 -- Kuwait national team won the Gulf long-distance swimming championship, which was held in Oman after winning six points.
2011 -- Kuwait Ministry of Education launched a project that would install surveillance cameras in 771 schools nationwide.
