BEIRUT, March 2 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's Cabinet announced on Monday an immediate ban on all Hezbollah military and security activities, deeming them illegal and obliging the group to hand over its weapons to the Lebanese state.
"The state rejects any military or security actions launched from Lebanese territory," Lebanese prime minister Nawaf Salam told a news conference after a Cabinet meeting at the presidential palace.
He then stated the Cabinet's rejection and condemnation of the Hezbollah rocket attack yesterday, stressing "The decision of war and peace rests exclusively with the state" as the attack risked dragging Lebanon into the ongoing regional war.
"We declare our rejection of any military or security operations launched from Lebanese territory outside the framework of legitimate institutions." he added.
The Cabinet tasked all military and security bodies with taking immediate measures to implement the decision, prevent any military actions or the launching of rockets or drones from Lebanese soil, and arrest violators. (end) ayb.sam
