WASHINGTON, March 2 (KUNA) -- A recent poll by Reuters in cooperation with Ipsos showed that only 27 percent of Americans support military operations launched by President Donald Trump against Iran.
The survey revealed that 43 percent of respondents opposed the US-led "Epic Fury" strikes alongside the Israeli occupation, while 29 percent expressed no clear opinion, reflecting deep divisions in public sentiment over escalating tensions in the Middle East region.
More than half of Republicans supported the military campaign, in contrast to just seven percent of Democrats backing the strikes, with 74 percent opposing them, and over half of all participants saying Trump uses military force excessively nationwide.
Trump faces strong criticism from Democrats in Congress, as well as from some Republican supporters, for his interventions in countries like Venezuela, Syria, and Iran, raising concerns that foreign military actions distract from domestic issues central to his 2024 election campaign.
The US president announced readiness to continue operations against Iran "for weeks" if necessary, noting in brief comments to The New York Times that the Pentagon retains sufficient capabilities to sustain attacks for four to five weeks. (end)
