BRUSSELS, March 1 (KUNA) -- European Commission (EC) Chief Ursula Von der Leyen on Sunday discussed key regional and international developments and ongoing efforts to support stability at both the regional and global levels.
The discussions took place during a phone call described by von der Leyen as "good" with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In a post on (X), von der Leyen said, "The instability in the region impacts us both profoundly, so close coordination is essential," noting that both sides had been in contact with key regional partners to assess the situation and discuss steps to de-escalate.
She welcomed "Tأ¼rkiyeآ’s readiness to mediate and support a resolution through peaceful means," affirming that both sides agree that "diplomacy is the only viable path forward".
She also expressed appreciation for the Turkish Presidentآ’s preparedness efforts to address any potential impact of the crisis on migration, pointing out that the two sides already work closely together on Syria.
Von der Leyen stressed that "regional and global stability is at stake; weآ’re well aware of this". (end)
