RIYADH, March 1 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jassem Al-Budaiwi on Sunday strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting the Port of Duqm in the Sultanate of Oman and an oil tanker off its coast.
In a statement, Al-Budaiwi said the assaults constituted a flagrant violation of Oman's sovereignty and a dangerous escalation undermining regional security and stability, while threatening maritime navigation and global energy supplies.
He noted that GCC states had previously conveyed to Iran, on several occasions, that their territories and airspace would not be used to launch any military operations against it.
Al-Budaiwi stressed that targeting civilian facilities represents a grave breach of international law, the UN Charter and principles of good neighborliness, affirming the GCC's full solidarity with Oman in all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty and stability.
He reiterated the Council's rejection of all forms of aggression against the security of its member states. (end)
