BERLIN, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- The Verdi trade unions announced on Friday a nationwide public transport strike, bringing daily life to a halt across all 16 German states.
In a statement, the unions said the strike began this morning and affected Germany's largest local transport operator, resulting in the suspension of buses, trains and most public transport services nationwide.
The action marks the second nationwide strike in an ongoing round of negotiations with employers, as workers press for higher wages and improved work conditions. (end) anj.sam
