JEDDAH, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Taha congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as well as the government and people of Kuwait on the 65th National Day and the 35th Liberation Day celebrations.
In statements to KUNA on Wednesday, he said," We, in the OIC, share with the Kuwaiti government and people the joy of this dear occasion." The Secretary-General spoke highly of Kuwait's "pivotal and historic contributions" to the enhancement of the OIC role and cementing the solidarity among the members of the organization.
He commended the preventive diplomacy and the relief efforts of Kuwait which made the country a center of moderation and humanitarian action under its wise leadership.
As the second biggest donor to the OIC after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait accounts for nine percent of the total financial contributions to the organization, which materializes the country's belief in the significance of the OIC message and missions.
