WASHINGTON, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- The US Department of State ordered on Monday the departure of non-emergency personnel and their families at its embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, as a precautionary measure which comes in light of the escalation of regional tension between the US and Iran.
In a statement, the department said that it instructed its non-emergency government workers and individuals to depart Beirut.
The US department noted that it "continuously assesses the security environment, and based on its latest review." It went to say that "we determined it prudent to reduce our footprint to essential personnel," according to the statement. (end) amm.hm
