ADEN, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Yemen's government expressed full solidarity with Kuwait Monday, affirming its unwavering support for Kuwait's complete sovereignty over its maritime zones and waters, and its total rejection of any violation of Kuwait's established sovereign rights.
In a press release, Yemen's Foreign Ministry said it is following with deep concern the coordinates and maps submitted by Iraq to the United Nations, which infringe on Kuwait's sovereignty over areas such as Fasht Al-Qaid and Fasht Al-Aij.
These submissions include parts of the submerged divided zone bordering the Saudi-Kuwaiti divided area, where Saudi Arabia and Kuwait jointly own the natural resources under existing agreements, the statement noted.
Yemen underlined the need to respect international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and to uphold internationally recognized borders.
It also called for full adherence to all bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Kuwait and Iraq, in the spirit of good neighborliness and historic fraternal ties. (end) sns.lr
