BRUSSELS, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, on Monday affirmed that the EU seeks to actively participate in the Gaza peace process and contribute all available resources to support progress and stability in the region.
Kallas said that EU foreign ministers will meet today with the High Representative of the Board of Peace for Gaza, Nickolay Maldenov, to discuss ongoing developments and coordinate next steps in advancing the peace process within the Gaza Strip.
She added that the EU currently operates the Border Assistance Mission at the Rafah crossing and maintains a training mission for Palestinian police officers, noting that agreements with Jordan and Egypt outline the most effective ways to implement these initiatives.
Kallas stressed that all these measures also require approval from the Israeli side, emphasizing the necessity of proper coordination to ensure that steps taken are constructive and contribute meaningfully to stability and security in Gaza. (end) arn.ahm
