BEIRUT, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Saturday strongly condemned Israeli occupation airstrikes carried out overnight by land and sea, targeting the Sidon area and several towns in Beqaa, describing them as hostile acts undermining stability.
In a statement, President Aoun said the attacks target Lebanon's diplomatic efforts with friendly countries, foremost the United States, to stabilize the situation and halt hostilities, stressing they constitute a renewed violation of sovereignty and international obligations.
He added that the repeated assaults reflect disregard for the will of the international community, particularly United Nations resolutions calling for full adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, urging responsible states to act to stop violations and prevent further escalation.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's Emergency Operations Center said the airstrikes on several Beqaa towns killed 10 people and wounded 24, including three children, as Israeli occupation forces continue daily ceasefire violations and maintain positions inside Lebanese territory. (end) fr.ahm
