WASHINGTON, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday imposing new 10 percent tariffs on "all countries" following a Supreme Court ruling invalidating tariffs he had introduced in early April last year.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, "It is my great honor to have just signed, from the Oval Office, a global 10 percent tariff on all countries, which will be effective almost immediately."
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a ruling striking down tariffs previously imposed on the majority of countries worldwide, in a decision widely viewed as a setback to Trump, particularly regarding his international trade policies.
Trump strongly criticized the Court's decision, describing it as "disgraceful," and affirmed that he possesses "stronger alternatives" than the legal authority he relied upon last year to implement global tariffs. (end)
