ISLAMABAD, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- At least four militants were killed in a security operation in Pakistanآ’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan, said the military on Thursday.
Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat District of KPK on reported presence of militants, the Pakistani army said in a press release.
During the conduct of the operation, Pakistani troops effectively engaged the militantsآ’ location and after an intense exchange of fire, four militants were killed, it added.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed militants, who remained actively involved in numerous militant activities in the area, it noted.
The operation comes at a time when Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks especially in KPK and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. (end) sbk.mt
