PARIS, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Embassy in Paris celebrated the 65th National Day of Kuwait and the 35th anniversary of its liberation, in the presence of several high-ranking French officials along with senior diplomats from Asia, Arab, and gulf dignitaries.
The attendance included officials from the French Presidency and the Prime Minister's office, as well as representatives from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, parliamentary and economic figures, and ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries accredited to the French Republic and UNESCO chief.
Kuwait Ambassador to France Abdullah Sulaiman Al-Shaheen delivered a speech on this occasion, which coincides with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the State of Kuwait and the French Republic.
In his speech, Al-Shaheen addressed the deep historical ties between the two nations, praising the level of bilateral cooperation in various fields and emphasizing the shared commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership.
The Ambassador also highlighted the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two sides to serve their common interests, given the developments in the region and the world, and affirmed the State of Kuwait's commitment to its approach based on promoting dialogue and international cooperation.
In his speech, the ambassador remembered the official visit of His Highness the Amir Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the French Republic on July 14th of last year, emphasizing that it was a culmination of the historic relationship and a deepening of opportunities for cooperation.
Al-Shaheen also stressed the importance of adhering to the principles of international law and United Nations resolutions and upholding the values of independence and freedom.
He commended the leading role of the French Republic and its principled stance in recognizing the State of Palestine, considering the dangerous developments unfolding in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ceremony included an exchange of congratulations on this national occasion, reflecting the strength of Kuwaiti French relations and the deep bonds between the two friendly peoples. (end) mb
