KUWAIT, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Affairs and Acting Minister of Information and Culture Omar Al-Omar said on Thursday that the farmers' market initiative contributes to backing Kuwaiti farmers and enhancing their products at local markets.
Speaking to KUNA and Kuwait TV, Al-Omar said the initiative, organized by supreme tourism committee in collaboration with Ghalia Company, is a key step to for sale outlets close to residential areas, which farmers to offer their products to consumers.
Establishing the market inside residential areas helps citizens and expats get fresh local produce, he added, noting that this experience; which took place in Al-Edailia area park, deserves continuation due to its economic and social dimensions.
Meanwhile, head of Ghalia Abdulrazzaq Al-Mutawa said the Company has 40 selling stands, along with others for honey and dairy products.
He indicated that they want, through this step, to help local producers and back food security in Kuwait. The market will last until next Saturday. (end) mdm.amh.hm
