KUWAIT, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Representative of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabei honored winners of the 16th International Inventions Fair in the Middle East (IIFME)
The four-day fair, which concluded yesterday (Wednesday), saw the participation of more than 213 inventors representing 30 countries.
Kuwait Science Club (KSC) Chairman and Head of the High Committee for the Fair Talal Al-Kharafi affirmed that the success of the fair was the result of the various supporting organizations and working committees.
Similarly, Examination Department Director at the GCC General Secretariat Patent Office Majid Al-Rafiq congratulated the winners, emphasizing that the awards as part of the Secretariat's support for Gulf innovators.
KSC said in a press statement on Thursday that the results yielded the Grand Prize to six Chinese inventors, while Palestinian inventor Cesar Al-Laham won the KSC Prize.
The statement pointed out that a research team from the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), comprising of Dr. Sultan Al-Salem, Dr. Fadhila Al-Salamin, and Dr. Sherif El-Eskandarani, won the Association of Arab Universities Award.
Additionally, a team from Kuwait University, including Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Azmi, Dr. Fawzi Muwaffaq, Dr. Laila Al-Haddad, Dr. Abdulhamid Amwas, Mohammad Amira, and Tasneem Habib, won the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils Award.
Regarding the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC) awards, dedicated to Kuwaiti inventors, Qatr al-Nada Al-Enezi won first place, Sheikha Al-Khalfan came in second, Meshari Khajah in third, Saad Makhseed in fourth, and Khaled Al-Hazza in fifth.
Concerning the GCC Patent Office Awards, the Club said that Saudi inventors Abdulaziz Al-Askar, Fatima Al-Otaibi, Wesam Eldin Saber, and Khaled Ghoneim clinched the first-place award.
The statement added that Swiss inventor Kabir Singh Dhatt won the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva Prize. Regarding the awards of the Arab League and its specialized organizations, the statement noted that three Jordanian inventors Ghadeer Swaifan, Mayada Hadia, and Patrick Okechukwu won the Award of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.
Egyptian inventor Suzan Doush received the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Award, while Algerian inventor Bouhamdoun Saber received the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) Award.
The statement also mentioned that Saudi inventor Abdullah Al-Ghadhib won the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) Award.
It also reported that Iraqi inventors Najwa Abu Miqdad, Al-Zahra Abdulamir, and Fatima Mohsen bagged the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) Award.
Meanwhile, Saudi inventor Bader Jazaa won the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) Award. (end)
