KUWAIT, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- The embassies of Kuwait in Brunei and Singapore, Thailand, along with Kuwait's Consulate General in Guangzhou, celebrated Kuwait's 65th National Day and the 35th anniversary of Liberation Day.
The celebrations were attended by senior officials, heads and members of accredited diplomatic missions, journalists, and prominent public figures.
In Brunei, the Kuwaiti Embassy hosted a ceremony marking the national occasions in the presence of Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office Sufian Sabtu, who attended as the guest of honor and representative of the Sultan's government.
The event was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, senior representatives from various ministries, heads and members of accredited diplomatic missions, and notable figures from the private sector in the Sultanate.
During the ceremony, Charge d'Affaires ad interim Abdullah Al-Obaid extended his highest congratulations and blessings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and to the government and people of Kuwait.
He wished continued security, prosperity, and stability for the country under its wise leadership.
The ceremony featured a short documentary showcasing Kuwait's achievements and contributions at both regional and international levels. A promotional video highlighting tourism in Kuwait and the country's cultural and developmental assets was also presented.
In Singapore, the Kuwaiti Embassy organized a similar celebration attended by senior officials, diplomats, and representatives from official and economic sectors
On the occasion, Kuwait's Ambassador to Singapore Ahmad Al-Shuraim conveyed his sincere congratulations and best wishes to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Al-Shuraim highlighted the strength of Kuwaiti-Singaporean diplomatic relations, which span more than 40 years, noting the steady growth of cooperation across various sectors, particularly in economic, trade, and political fields, and praised the positive contributions of Kuwaiti companies operating in Singapore.
The event was attended by Singapore's Senior Minister of State of Sustainability and the Environment Zaqy Mohammad, Members of Parliament Saktiandi Supaat and Poh Li San, as well as ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Singapore, senior government officials, dignitaries, and business leaders.
In Thailand, the Embassy of Kuwait held a celebration marking the national occasions, attended by a number of senior Thai officials, members of the accredited diplomatic corps, as well as Kuwaiti citizens and residents in Thailand.
Acting Charge d'Affaires at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Bangkok, Counsellor Abdulmohsen Al-Fares extended his highest congratulations and blessings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, wishing Kuwait continued security and stability and further progress and prosperity.
In a press statement, the embassy noted that Thailand's Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Sirilak Niyom, represented her government as the guest of honor at the ceremony, which reflected the strength of Kuwaiti-Thai bilateral relations.
Consulate General of State of Kuwait in Guangzhou held a celebration attended by senior officials from Guangdong Province, heads and members of diplomatic missions, and prominent official figures.
Consul General in Guangzhou Abdullah Al-Turki extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and to the government and people of Kuwait, wishing the country continued security, stability, and prosperity.
Al-Turki noted that this year's celebrations coincide with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and the People's Republic of China, describing the longstanding ties as being founded on mutual respect and a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors under the leadership of both countries.
He commended the notable progress in bilateral relations in recent years, particularly in high-level visits, political and economic dialogue, and China's decision to grant Kuwaiti citizens visa-free entry, which has positively facilitated travel, boosted tourism, and enhanced trade exchange between the two countries.
He also expressed appreciation to the Chinese government, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office in Guangdong Province, for its constructive cooperation in finalizing the signing last December of the executive agreement allocating two land plots for constructing the buildings of Kuwait's Consulate General in Guangzhou.
He affirmed that the step represents an advancement in strengthening Kuwait's diplomatic presence in southern China.
On his part, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress Ye Zhenqin congratulated Kuwait on its National Day, affirming the deep friendship between China and Kuwait and describing it as a well-established strategic relationship.
He noted that Kuwait was among the first Gulf countries to establish diplomatic relations with China and the first Middle Eastern country to sign a cooperation agreement under the Belt and Road Initiative, stressing the continuous development of the strategic partnership between the two nations across various fields.
He added that trade volume between Guangdong Province and Kuwait reached approximately USD 1.58 billion in 2025, recording an annual growth rate of 11.9 percent, reflecting the strength of economic ties between the two sides.
He also highlighted the importance of the agreement to allocate land in the Consular Zone in Zhigang, Guangzhou, noting that Kuwait's selection as the first Arab country to establish a consulate headquarters in the area reflects mutual trust and the level of existing cooperation.
He concluded by reaffirming Guangdong Province's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Kuwait and aligning Kuwait Vision 2035 with the Belt and Road Initiative in a manner that promotes shared development and mutual interests, while wishing Kuwait continued progress and prosperity. (end)
