KUWAIT, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Embassies in Lebanon and Spain commemorated the 65th National Day and the 35th Liberation Day with official receptions attended by prominent political, diplomatic, economic and social figures.
In Beirut, Charge d'Affaires of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon, Minister Plenipotentiary Abdulaziz Al-Dalh, congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, as well as the government and Kuwaiti people.
Al-Dalh prayed for Kuwait's continued security and prosperity, underscoring the deep-rooted and brotherly ties between Kuwait and Lebanon, built on mutual respect and strengthened through successive supportive stances over the years.
"National occasions remain unifying milestones with profound meanings and significance," he said, expressing appreciation for Lebanon's participation in Kuwait's celebrations and wishing continued progress and goodness for Kuwait, Lebanon and the wider Arab region.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam were represented at the event by Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri, who told KUNA that Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations are "longstanding and close," describing them as not only political but also deeply rooted among the two peoples.
Mitri highlighted the strong affection between Kuwaitis and Lebanese, noting decades-old friendships and many similarities between the two countries, making Kuwait's National and Liberation Days occasions of special value to the Lebanese people.
In Madrid, Kuwait's Embassy in Spain hosted a similar celebration attended by senior political figures, heads of diplomatic missions, academics, cultural personalities and representatives of civil society.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Spain Ziad Al-Anbaei conveyed congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, as well as the government and Kuwaiti people.
He wished the country further progress, prosperity and stability under the Amir's wise leadership.
Al-Anbaei affirmed that Kuwait and Spain attach great importance to their bilateral relations, established more than 60 years ago, noting significant political, economic and commercial growth in recent years that has brought the two nations closer.
He pointed out that Kuwait Airways operates nine weekly flights to three Spanish cities, while the number of Kuwaiti tourists visiting Spain continues to rise noticeably.
The ambassador said the two countries are linked by several agreements and memoranda of understanding that have contributed to steadily advancing cooperation across various fields, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035, which aims to position the country as a leading financial and commercial hub in the region.
He also highlighted the clear harmony and alignment of views between the two friendly nations on many regional and international issues, within their shared commitment to international law.
The ambassador praised Spain's honorable stance on the Palestinian cause and its efforts to support peace and stability in the region and advance the two-state solution.
In turn, Director of Casa Arabe and former Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait Miguel Moro Aguilar conveyed his best wishes to the Kuwaiti leadership and people, expressing hope for enhanced cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Spanish Senator Luis Rogelio Rodriguez, a member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee representing the conservative party, praised the stable and distinguished relations between the two countries and the fraternal ties between the two ruling families, wishing the Kuwaiti people continued prosperity and stability.
Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Secretary of the Defense Committee in the Congress of Deputies, Senator Teresa Ruiz-Sillero, also congratulated Kuwait on its national days, wishing good health to His Highness the Amir and expressing hope for deeper diplomatic relations.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Basque Nationalist Party in several Senate committees, Senator Luke Uribe Etxebarria extended congratulations to the Kuwaiti people on their "great day," noting that despite the geographical distance, the Spanish and Basque peoples feel close to Kuwait.
He described bilateral relations as fruitful and promising, particularly in sectors such as machinery, energy and renewable energy. (end)
