KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- Malaysia has condemned the decision by the Israeli occupation authorities to expand control over the occupied West Bank, facilitating more illegal settlements.
In a statement, Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the measures constitute a blatant violation of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, relevant United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, and the principles of the UN Charter.
The ministry added that the decision would have direct repercussions on the rights of the Palestinian people and on the prospects for achieving a two-state solution.
The statement emphasized that expanding control and facilitating settlement activities undermines the foundations of a just and lasting peace and closes practical avenues toward establishing an independent and viable Palestinian state.
It also stressed that such practices exacerbate the suffering of Palestinian civilians and violate their inalienable rights. Malaysia called on the international community to reject these actions and take effective measures to prevent further intrusion on Palestinian lands, urging accountability for those responsible in accordance with international and law and relevant UN resolutions. The Malaysian government reaffirmed its steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for freedom and justice, and reiterated its support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine along the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
