KUWAIT, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- Meetings of the 104th regular session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Information commenced on Tuesday in Kuwait, with the participation of several Arab states and under the chairmanship of Committee President Abdulrahman Al-Obaidan.
Kuwait's Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Dr. Nasser Mohsen said in his address that the session reflects the unified role of Arab media in serving regional causes and strengthening media solidarity.
He noted that the meetings are being held amid exceptional circumstances and accelerating challenges, underscoring the need to enhance cooperation and build a responsible Arab media discourse based on truth, credibility, stability and development.
Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League for Media Affairs Ambassador Ahmad Khattabi said Kuwait's hosting of the meetings, in preparation for the 22nd session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, highlights Kuwait's longstanding role in supporting Arab media action.
He reviewed follow-up efforts on decisions of the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, noting the growing diversity of media issues, with a focus on shared Arab concerns, particularly the Palestinian cause.
He stressed the need to protect Palestinian journalists and recalled the designation of May 11 as an international day of solidarity with Palestinian media.
Khattabi also emphasized activating the external media action plan, accelerating implementation of approved strategies, addressing digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and strengthening media literacy.
The meeting will submit its recommendations to the Executive Bureau session scheduled for Wednesday. (end)
