CAIRO, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit hoped that the formation of Yemen's new government, headed by Prime Minister Shaya' Al-Zindani, would contribute to improving basic services for Yemeni citizens and enhance the efficiency of state institutions.
In a statement, Aboul Gheit praised the Yemeni political factions for their efforts to unite and cooperate to accelerate the announcement of the new government amid the challenging circumstances facing Yemen and the region.
He also welcomed the allocation of ministerial portfolios to women and youth in the new cabinet, describing the move as a demonstration of political will to acknowledge social diversity and the historic role of Yemeni women and youth in directly participating in national decision-making.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the Arab League Council's resolutions supporting Yemen's unity and sovereignty, emphasizing the importance of non-interference in its internal affairs while also urging efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering faced by the Yemeni people.
