CAIRO, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Chairman of the Palestinian National Committee for Gaza Administration, Dr. Ali Shaath, said that a meeting of the member states of the Peace Council will be held on February 19 in Washington to confirm necessary pledges for funding and relief, and to begin urgent work on the ground in Palestine.
During a visit to the Rafah Crossing on the Egyptian side on Monday, Shaath emphasized that "the committee works for the Palestinian people and will continue its national efforts to support them, to save them from the hardships they face, and to stand with them until the last moment of our lives," according to statements reported by Egypt's Middle East News Agency.
Shaath said the visit aimed to review Egypt's extensive logistical procedures facilitating the crossing of Palestinian citizens, particularly patients and the injured, to enter Egyptian hospitals for treatment. He began with a tour of Al-Arish Hospital to observe the reception procedures for Palestinian patients, praising the excellent medical care and facilities.
He also visited the Egyptian Red Crescent's logistics warehouses, which receive aid both from Egypt and internationally for entry into Gaza, describing the effort by Egyptian authorities as "very significant." Shaath added that the committee has met with the European Union, the United Nations, and several Arab and Western countries, prepared to support Gaza, confirming that the committee has received pledges of funding necessary for relief, recovery, and reconstruction in the Strip.
