BEIRUT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health announced on Monday that a civilian was killed by Israeli occupation fire in southern Lebanon.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center said in a statement that the victim was shot and killed in the border town of Aita Al-Shaab.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the Israeli forces for reportedly abducting a citizen from his home in the southern town of Al-Hibariyeh early this morning, calling it "a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty, a breach of the ceasefire agreement, and a violation of international law."
Salam stated that he tasked Foreign Minister Youssef Raji to "take immediate action and follow up on this case with the United Nations." He also reiterated calls for the release of all Lebanese prisoners held in Israeli jails as soon as possible.
Israeli forces have continued attacks on Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement that began on November 27, 2024. (end)
