KUWAIT, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- Qatar's Al-Wakrah SC Saturday defeated Lebanon's Chabeb Batroun (3-1), and Dar Kulaib of Bahrain beat Burgan of Kuwait (3-0) on the fourth day of the West Asian Volleyball Clubs Championship.
The first match, which was held at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex, saw stiff competition between both Qatari and Lebanese teams in a match in which Al-Wakrah could win in the end. The sets were (25-23), (19-25), (29-27), and (25-19).
In the second game, the Bahraini team outperformed the Kuwaiti Burgan squad and ended the sets with 25-16, 25-19 and 25-15.
Eleven sports clubs are partaking in the fourth edition of the West Asian Volleyball Clubs Championship, hosted by Kuwait Club until February 14.
The participating teams were divided into three groups. Group A includes defending champions Qatar's Al-Rayyan, Oman's Majees, and Iraq's Ghaz Al-Junoob. Group B features Kuwait Club, Lebanon's Chabeb Batroun, Qatar's Al-Wakrah, and Bahrain's Al-Ahli. Group C involves Kuwait's Burgan, Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad, Oman's Al-Seeb, and Bahrain's Dar Kulaib. (end) mym.mt
