ISTANBUL, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- Turkish Minister of Defense Yasar Guler on Saturday reiterated his country's support for Syria's sovereignty, security and stability.
Guler was quoted by Turkish local media as vowing that Ankara would not allow the imposition of an armed fait accompli on Syria under any name, underlining that military operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its wings in both Syria and Iraq would continue until the threat was completely wiped out.
He added that counterterror would continue in parallel with support for a political solution and maintaining Syria's territorial integrity, noting that it is up to the Syrian people themselves to determine their country's destiny.
The Syrian government announced on January 30 a comprehensive agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) involving an integrated political, security, military and administrative track to include northeastern areas into state institutions. (end)
