CAIRO, Feb 4 (KUNA) -- Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Sabah, announced that the Arab Charter Committee on Human Rights has adopted all of Kuwait's responses related to its second periodic report.
The report was submitted to the committee last month and addressed progress achieved in implementing Kuwait's legal obligations under the provisions of the Arab Charter on Human Rights.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following her chairing of Kuwait's delegation to the 57th session of the Permanent Arab Committee on Human Right, she explained that Kuwait's second report, submitted last month, was discussed during the current session's proceedings.
Sheikha Jawaher noted that the committee's chair informed the Kuwaiti delegation of the approval of all responses provided by Kuwait to the questions and recommendations raised during the dialogue.
She affirmed Kuwait's continued cooperation with the committee in preparing its third periodic report over the coming four years.
She added that Kuwait received wide commendation from committee members, particularly for its recent legislative measures, transparent engagement, and implementation of plans enhancing human rights systems.
These efforts included women's empowerment, child rights protection, and expanded safeguards for persons with disabilities.
She also highlighted Kuwait's promotion of the right to health and its humanitarian and developmental role through aid and contributions via the Kuwait Fund since 1961.
She concluded by expressing aspiration for further progress in freedoms and human rights in the coming phase. (end)
