DUBAI, Jan 31 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the UAE General Women's Union (GWU) Noura Al-Suwaidi affirmed Saturday fraternal UAE-Kuwait relations and shared belief in the significance of empowering women and advancing their role in the sustainable development process.
Al-Suwaidi made the remarks to KUNA while addressing the First UAE-Kuwaiti Women's Forum, which opened in Abu Dhabi on Thursday and lasts until February 4, held under the patronage of the GWU's chairwoman Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, who is titled the "Mother of the Nation".
The forum coincides with the recently launched "UAE-Kuwait: Brothers Forever" Week, running from January 29 through February 4.
Al-Suwaidi extolled the Mother of the Nation's patronage of the women's forum as part of a well-established approach of supporting and empowering women and establishing their presence as effective partners for development and future-making.
She said that the forum marks a platform to exchange experiences, review expertise and promote future partnerships between Emirati and Kuwaiti women's institutions in a way that contributes to developing joint initiatives and opening broader horizons of integration and coordination in women's empowerment issues.
The forum comes in the context of the "UAE-Kuwait-Brothers Forever", which kicked off on Thursday and lasts until February 4, mainly purposed to highlight deep UAE-Kuwait bonds. (end)
