MOSCOW, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- The Russian Presidency (Kremlin) said Friday that Moscow has agreed a truce in Ukraine until early February in a step that aims at creating conditions for negotiations with Kyiv.
Spokesman for the Russian Presidency Dmitry Peskov confirmed in a news briefing that US President Donald Trump had asked President Vlademir Putin to stop attacking Ukraine for a week.
"Indeed, President Trump addressed President Putin with a personal request to refrain for a week, until February 1, from launching strikes on Kyiv in order to create favorable conditions for negotiations," Peskov said.
Commenting on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's reported refusal to concede the Donbas region and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the Russian spokesman said that Kremlin had seen these statements, "but the frontline situation speaks for itself". (end)
