ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- At least 41 militants were killed in two separate operations by security forces in Pakistanآ’s southwestern Balochistan province, said the military on Friday.
According to a press release by Pakistan militaryآ’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the outskirts of Harnai District of Balochistan on the reported presence of terrorists.
It confirmed that during the conduct of the operation, Pakistani troops effectively engaged the hideout, and after an intense exchange of fire, 30 militants were killed.
Large cache of ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed militants and were destroyed on the spot, it added.
Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in Panjgur District of the province in which a militant hideout was busted and 11 militants were neutralized, the military added.
The operations come at a time when Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. (end)
