KUWAIT, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed Thursday that the State of Kuwait succeeded in organizing an "exceptional edition" of the Asian Handball Cup.
Speaking to reporters following the final between Bahrain and Qatar on Thursday evening, the minister cited the organization, technical aspects, and public attendance as proof of this success, which came as a result of the strenuous efforts of Kuwaiti personnel in all committees involved.
"This great success comes as the result of the political leadership's care for the sports sector with all its various fields," the minister said.
He added that this special hosting of the event reflects the confidence of Asian handball officials in Kuwait's organization capabilities, speaking highly of the high technical and competitive level of all Asian teams.
The minister congratulated the Bahraini national handball team on winning the trophy for the first time after betting the Qatari squad in the final 29-26. (end) sad.mt
