KUWAIT, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- Bahrain beat Qatar in the 22nd Asian Handball Championship 29-26 on Thursday to win the trophy for the first time in the history of the tournament, held in Kuwait from January 15-29.
The Bahraini national handball team did well in the first half of the game, making a 14-11 lead.
In the second half, both squads got engaged in a great physical and mental struggle, and the score remained close but with a slight advantage for the Bahraini team.
Based on the experience of the Qatari team players, the match turned into a 24 - 24 tie just seven seconds before the end of the second half, so the match went to extra time.
