LONDON, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said on Monday that the UK police will be receiving GBP 140 million worth of tech upgrades, including vehicles using facial recognition equipment and Artificial Intelligence tools, to aid them against crime.
Speaking to the House Commons, Mahmood presented the government's white paper, which included various measures to help police fight crime beyond the confines of analogue technology, which she said that some police force in the country still relied on.
On Sunday, Mahmood said the United Kingdom is planning to create an FBI-like police force, tentatively dubbed the National Police Service (NPS), which will be tasked with serious crimes and aiding local police against serious crimes. (end) gta.ibi
