NEW DELHI, Jan 24 (KUNA) -- President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to participate in India's 77th Republic Day celebrations.
She was welcomed by Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada, said spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal. "As the world's two largest democracies, India and the EU share a partnership rooted in mutual trust and shared values," Jaiswal said, noting that von der Leyen's visit will chart a new phase of India-EU Strategic partnership.
President of the European Council Antonio Luis Santos da Costa will arrive tomorrow to join President of the European Commission in Republic Day celebrations on Monday. Both the leaders will co-chair the 16th India-EU Summit on January 27th. (end) atk.gb
