WASHINGTON, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump stressed that the framework agreement on Greenland is permanent, affirming that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will participate in implementing the understandings reached on the Danish-governed island.
Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday, while returning from Davos to Washington, that "time limit is infinity, meaning there is no time limit. It's forever."
"We can do anything we want, we can do military, we can do anything we want, and it's being negotiated. And let's see what happens," he remarked.
Trump added that Washington would pay no price for the privileges it gains, saying the agreement contains "great things" and is also beneficial to Europe.
"We're all going to work together, and actually NATO is going to be involved with us. We're going to be doing in conjunction," he said.
He also specified that US spending on Greenland will be limited to investments in the construction of the Golden Dome missile defense system.
Trump had announced on Wednesday reaching a framework for a future agreement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Greenland, while also retracting proposed tariffs on several European countries linked to the dispute over the island. (end)
