CAIRO, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- The 29th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information Technology kicked off on Thursday, addressing a number of issues related to developing Arab cooperation in the communications and information technology sector and enhancing joint Arab action in the field of cybersecurity.
Under the chairmanship of Egypt, the agenda of the session includes a number of topics, most notably cybersecurity and the work of the Arab expert team concerned with combating information technology crimes, in addition to ways to support Arab cooperation with regional groups and organizations and partners concerned with the communications and information technology sector.
The session will also cover topics of cooperation with the Arab Federation for Digital Economy and cooperation with the Arab Federation for Internet and Communications, in addition to the Arab Strategy for Communications and Information (the Arab Digital Agenda), internet governance topics, and the Arab Digital Economy Index.
The Council will discuss efforts to activate Arab initiatives adopted by the Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union, in line with the Arab Digital Agenda adopted by the Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia in 2023, as well as unifying Arab positions and enhancing the Arab presence in specialized international forums.
It also discusses a number of important issues, including coordinating the work of the technical working groups of the postal and telecommunications committees, considering the adoption of the draft code of ethics for artificial intelligence, studying the establishment of an Arab Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, in addition to following up on the Arab strategy for communications and information and coordinating work between the relevant Arab organizations.
Kuwait is participating in the session with a delegation headed by the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications Meshal Al-Zaid, Director of Public Relations Ahmed Al-Husseini, representative of the Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology Muteb Al-Azmi, and the Second Secretary at Kuwait's Mission to the Arab League Bader Al-Muhaileb.
