RIYADH, Jan 21 (KUNA) -- The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates said the leaders of their countries welcomed US President Donald Trump's invitation for joining the Board of Peace for Gaza.
The ministers announced, in a joint statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Wednesday, a unanimous decision to join the Board of Peace.
Each of the eight countries will sign the legal documents of the membership, the statement said, noting that Egypt, Pakistan and the UAE had previously agreed to join the board.
The eight countries support the peace efforts led by President Trump, and confirm commitment to the Board's mission to fulfil the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict which was endorsed by the UN Security Council Resolution 2830.
The 20-point plan charted a roadmap for lasting peace, stability, reconstruction, and prosperity in the Gaza, as a transition to meeting the aspirations of the Palestinian people for statehood under the international law and ensuring security and stability for all nations in the region, the joint statement added.
