CAIRO, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held talks on Monday on developments in the Gaza Strip and Sudan.
In a statement, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said the discussions took place during a phone call as part of ongoing consultation and coordination on regional developments and an exchange of views on issues of mutual concern.
During the call, Abdelatty stressed the need to implement the requirements of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan, support the national committee to administer Gaza, and deploy an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire.
He also underlined the importance of paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Regarding Sudan, Abdelatty emphasized the need to push toward a humanitarian truce as a step toward a comprehensive ceasefire, stressing the importance of preserving Sudan's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and supporting its national institutions.
He highlighted the necessity of providing safe havens and ensuring unrestricted access for humanitarian assistance to the Sudanese people.
The statement added that the call also reviewed prospects for strengthening Egyptian-Turkish relations and building on the positive momentum seen recently.
In addition, the preparations were discussed for organizing the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, to be co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the coming period. (end) aff.hs
