LONDON, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer held phone talks on Sunday with several European leaders and US President Donald Trump on developments related to the issue of Greenland.
According to the statement by UK Prime's Minster office, Starmer discussed the issue with Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and with US President Donald Trump.
Starmer reiterated the UK's support for Denmark's sovereignty over Greenland. He also reaffirmed his view that imposing US tariffs on allies seeking to uphold NATO security is a wrong decision.
On Saturday, President Trump announced plans to impose 10 percent tariffs on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland, starting next month, in response to their opposition to the annexation of Greenland by the United States. (end)
