KUWAIT, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah urged a Ministerial Committee to speed up implementation of development projects in line with instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
His Highness the Prime Minister made the remarks while chairing Thursday the 43rd ministerial committee meeting at Bayan Palace to follow up implementation of major development projects.
He called on committee members to continue follow up and supervision in order to maintain steady implementation of projects, noting near completion of technical studies related to the wastewater treatment plant in the new North Kabd Area.
The meeting touched upon reports about execution of mega development projects including Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, the electricity system, renewable energy, low-carbon green waste recycling systems, housing, environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants, free zones, economic zones and efforts to combat desertification.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Sameeh Hayat said the members reviewed state of play of projects under construction, related reports by government departments and previous executive measures.
Kuwait Investment Authority's (KIA) Manading Director Sheikh Saud Salem Al-Sabah detailed members about methods to select contractual, financial, technical and legal advisors for the development projects.
Sheikh Saud said KIA was working on identifying obstacles facing foreign government companies opeerating in State of Kuwait and was contacting government authorities to address them.
KIA, he added, was also committed to securing easy and efficient investment environment which would support expansion of foreign government companies and sustainaiblity of their investment in Kuwait.
The meeting was also attended by head of His Highness the Prime Minister's Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdulatif Al-Mashari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of state for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, Head of the Legal Advice and Legislation Department Salah Al-Majed and Acting Undersecretary of Ministry of Public Works Eid Al-Reshidi.
