ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- At least four militants were killed by security forces during an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, said the military on Tuesday.
According to a press release by Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces have killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of Balochistan.
The military further said that the operation was conducted on reported presence of terrorists in the area.
During the conduct of the operation, Pakistani forces effectively engaged the terrorists' location, and after an intense exchange of fire, four "terrorists" were killed, confirmed ISPR.
"Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area," it added.
Security operations are being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area. Relentless Counter Terrorism campaign by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, the release concluded.
The operation comes a day after at least six policemen and a civilian were killed in an attack targeting a police vehicle in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks especially in KPK and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. (end) sbk.ibi
